Classes at Elevation
BALLET
Ballet is an excellent foundation for all styles of dance as it encourages body awareness, technique and discipline. Each class is designed so that the student is warmed up at the barre, centred, and challenged through large travelling sequences from the corner.
We teach both open ballet (senior and adult levels only) and syllabus work at Elevation. We use the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) syllabus for Pre-Primary, Primary, Grades 1-5 and vocational grades Inter Foundation and Intermediate.
JAZZ
Jazz is a fun, up-beat and energetic style of dance which has evolved over the years to include styles such as Broadway jazz, Commercial and Funk. Each class commences with a warm up, isolations, stretch and strengthening, corner travelling progressions, and choreography usually performed to contemporary music.
CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary dance can not be defined by a single technique but a collection of methods allowing this style to continuously evolve and to draw influence from as many genres as possible. Contemporary at Elevation Dance Studios will challenge the dancer in all planes of movement, transitioning in and out of the floor, and to find orientation upside down and inside out.
Pre-Primary & Dancing Feet
Our Pre-Primary and Dancing Feet class are the perfect introduction to dance for young children. These classes are influenced by classical ballet, imaginative movement sequences, improvisation, and jazz. Our main goal is to encourage creativity, musicality, co-ordination, balance and imagination.
ACROBATICS
Acrobatics is a skills based class, that teaches flexibility, balance, strength and coordination to perform gymnastic-based tricks. This class prepares skills to be utilised in other dance styles and used in choreography. Students will begin by learning skills such as forward rolls, cartwheels, walkovers, and balancing then will progress into advanced tumbling and partner lifts. We ensure safe practises by first learning skills on an Acrobatic mat.

It features a mixture of hard hitting detailed movement contrasted with fluid and sustained choreography. There is most definitely a strong emphasis placed on performance quality and building confidence within your own execution.
